The Shady Lab focuses on combining brain imaging and computational neuroscience to understand how sleep and brain interact in explaining the development of neurodegenerative diseases like dementia with Lewy bodies, Parkinson's disease, and multiple system atrophy. We particularly focus on parasomnias such as isolated REM sleep behavior disorder, a condition where people act out their dreams due to the lack of normal muscle paralysis during REM sleep.
